Takedown requests

If you own a trademark or copyright in a logo or icon on IconZebra, you can ask us to change or remove it. It's free, and you don't need a lawyer to ask.

Who can ask

The owner of the trademark or copyright, or someone allowed to act for them, such as their legal team or agency.

What to send

Email hello@iconzebra.com with the subject “Takedown request” and include:

  1. The address of each IconZebra page involved, for example https://iconzebra.com/icons/github-logo.
  2. What you own: the trademark or work and, where you can, a registration number or a link that shows it's yours.
  3. What you'd like us to do: remove the icon, or change it (say, to a newer logo).
  4. Your name, your organisation and how we can reach you.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't allowed by the owner or the law, that the information in your request is accurate, and that you're the owner or allowed to act for them.

What happens next

  1. We reply within 2 working days to confirm we have your request, or to ask for anything that's missing.
  2. If the request is valid, we remove or change the icon within 5 working days and tell you when it's done. We may hide it sooner while we look into it.
  3. If we think the use is allowed (trademark law generally lets people use a logo to refer to its brand, which is what the brand logo rules on our license page ask of everyone), we'll explain why. You can reply with more information and we'll look again.

Removed icons stay removed: we keep a list of them, so they don't come back when we update the library from its sources.

The original icon projects

We don't draw these icons: they come from two open-source projects, and removing an icon from IconZebra doesn't remove it from them. To have it changed or removed there too, contact them directly:

Something else wrong?

For an out-of-date logo, a wrong name or a broken icon, you don't need a formal request. Just email hello@iconzebra.com and tell us what you spotted.

This page explains how we handle requests; it isn't legal advice, and sending a request doesn't affect any other rights you have.
